Summary: Hyperspectral imaging systems find applications which span the space, civil, environmental, and defence needs, where example applications range from monitoring specific terrain features and vegetation, mineral, or soil types for resource management to the delimitation and identification of tumor in medical applications. The mission of PHySIS is to investigate extensions of compressive signal representations and sparsity-enforcing recovery technologies for the acquisition, compression, restoration, and understanding of hyperspectral data.
The key objectives of PHySIS include i) the design of cutting edge hyperspectral video architectures, ii) the investigation of signal models for hyperspectral data, iii) the development of hyperspectral compression and restoration algorithms, and iv) the design of novel hyperspectral image understanding methods. These techniques will be demonstrated at the end of the project in appropriate laboratory conditions.
