The sustainable management of water resources is one of the great challenges of our time. Freshwater reserves are steadily shrinking, environmental pressures are intensifying, and the effects of climate change are increasingly visible. Addressing these issues requires the deployment of advanced digital tools that can provide timely and reliable insights to decision makers.
OrbitalMosaic is a cloud-based observatory developed by the Signal Processing Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH (Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas). It monitors lakes, rivers, and reservoirs in real time by combining satellite imagery, sensor networks, and meteorological data. Through advanced processing and analytics, OrbitalMosaic converts vast amounts of environmental data into usable information, supporting applications in ecosystem protection, agriculture, industry, and public health.

This year, OrbitalMosaic will be presented as part of the TITAN project showcase at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair (ΔΕΘ). Visitors to the FORTH exhibition pavilion will have the opportunity to explore how OrbitalMosaic demonstrates TITAN’s vision of harnessing cutting-edge digital technologies and smart resource management.
The participation of OrbitalMosaic in the TITAN presentation at ΔΕΘ highlights the role of research and innovation in shaping the future of water management. From raw satellite data to actionable intelligence, OrbitalMosaic illustrates how scientific expertise and technological advancement can converge to address critical challenges for society and the environment.
