
We are happy to share the upcoming event: “Crete from Above: Satellite Remote Sensing and Applications for Policy and Citizens” An event dedicated to the applications of satellite remote sensing and space-based services for policy making, regional development, and the everyday life of citizens. Date: Wednesday, 10 December 2025 Time: 17:30 – 20:45 Venue: Science and Culture Center of FORTH, Heraklion The event will bring together representatives of public authorities, research organisations and companies active in the Space and Earth Observation ecosystem. Through a series of invited talks, the programme will present: the national policy for Space and Telecommunications, the role of the Hellenic Space Center and national space services, Earth Observation services, the exploitation of big data and their use in decision support, Geo-observation and urban climate, with a focus on urban resilience, Artificial Intelligence for Space, Business opportunities in satellite remote sensing and the European perspective. The event highlights current policies, research and innovation initiatives and entrepreneurial activities, as well as the future prospects for Crete and Greece in the field of Space and satellite remote sensing. The working language of the event is Greek, participation is free of charge, and the target audience includes policy stakeholders, researchers, companies, students and interested citizens.
