Giannis Gavalas

Ioannis Gavalas is currently a Management and Innovation Officer at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH). With a background in project management, operations, and business development within the IT industry, Ioannis holds a Master of Science in Technology and Innovation Management from the Technical University of Crete. He earned an Engineer's degree (DI) in Production and Management Engineering in 2018, specializing in New Product & Service Development and Marketing Management in Technology Firms.

Prior to his current role, from May 2019 to June 2023, Ioannis served as a Project Manager at FORTH. In this capacity, he oversaw project finances, ensured compliance with funding authorities' guidelines, and contributed to the research environment. He was also a core member of Code BGP from July 2021 to July 2023, a spin-off of FORTH, working as an Operation and Business Analyst. His achievements include financial management, active participation in international conferences, customer contract management, and the successful implementation of various tools to optimize operational processes.

In his previous role at ThousandEyes (part of Cisco), from August 2023 until January 2024, Ioannis worked as a Business Analyst. He played a crucial role in facilitating financial integration, managing accounting procedures, and ensuring seamless operations during the transition phase following Cisco's acquisition of Code BGP.
